I hug my books
Hey Lubylou.
Love the blog!
I was wondering if you could recommend a book to buy for my girlfriend? She’s a massive bookworm herself, I think her favourite genres are thrillers or good love stories. Any suggestions you might have would be awesome.
Thanks,
Ali
Hey Ali, thank you for the positive feed back it’s always lovely to hear!
I’d highly recommend ‘Never Let Me go’ by Kazuo Ishiguro if your girlfriend likes romantic novels but also thrillers. This book is a perfect amalgamation of both genres.
The story has a touching and moving love story deep within the heart of it but the novel itself is also presided with a dark and ominous mood giving it that thriller element. You can check out my review on my home page.
Hope that helps, I really think she’ll love the book and with the film adaptation just being released this year it means the book is being much talked about at the moment so I’m sure she’ll find plenty of other book lovers to discuss it with.
What sort of books do you enjoy?
Hi, just wondered if you had noticed that when you post on other people’s weblogs (well Simon Savidge’s anyway) your “name” is hyperlinked to the entertainingly named, but unobtainable
http://ihugmybogs.wordpress.com/

O dear, I think it’s time I fess up to a rather embarrassing story. When I first set up my blog I actually made a huge, and quite ditzy typo, namely I called my blog I hug my bogs! For a while I think people thought I just really liked toilets, anyway after realising my silly ways I did shut that site down and set this one up. I thought I’d put my bog hugging days behind me : )
Thanks for letting me know about this though! I can now try and rectify it. Can I ask which comment you saw my hyperlink on as I thought I’d fixed the problem. Also how were you able to find the correct site just so I know if other people are able to as well?
Thanks, a rather ditsy Lou
Hello Lou
I found the correct site by assuming that you HAD made some typographical error and that “books” was a plausible alternative to “bogs” and it brought me here!
I found the wrong url on your comment on Brett Easton Ellis at this url:

Hi DP,
Thanks for getting back to me, o dear I thought the bog days were behind me, I definitely need to get that sorted. Thanks again for letting me know. Hope you still enjoyed visiting the blog!
Hi Lou, Sorry to tell you this, but if you click on your name on this site it still takes you to the bogs page 😦
Hi Sam, thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like there’s much I’m able to do about it now as it’s something to do my username that can’t be changed. On the bright side hovering on my gravatar image should display a link to this blog.
Looks like my bog days will always haunt me : ) Unless any wordpress users know a way around this??
If no-one else has any suggestions could you reactivate the page for free? If so, why not make it look like this website but display the words “This page is no longer available. Click here to be redirected.” At least that would disguise the mistake.
Good suggestion Sam, I’ll have a look into that. Thanks for your helpful feedback.
Hope the blog is still useful for everyone : )
Ah bog hugging, it reminds me of house parties when I was a teenager, drinking White Lightning eating horrible stuff and well and trully nuzzling the poor toilet. yuk. This is so funny.
Ha this is very classic me Dave! The ditsy spelling that is, not so much the ‘bog hugging’ although we’ve all being there I’m sure : )Thank God I eventually realised!
Bear, this blog is awesome! Just wondering what book i should take on hols with me. You know exactly what i like so i cant wait for the suggestions, woop woop!! Kaffy xx
I’m glad you like it : ) O holiday reading, very exciting! I really think you’d like Room, here’s my review https://ihugmybooks.wordpress.com/2011/03/17/room-by-emma-donoghe/ it could be a little sad for a holiday read as it covers the topic of abduction, but it’s told through a childs voice which keeps it up beat, I really think you’d like it.
One Day by David Nicholls is a little different to what you normally read but I do think you’d enjoy it and find yourself relating to it, https://ihugmybooks.wordpress.com/2011/06/29/one-day-by-david-nicholls/
or there’s Purple Hibiscus which I just read for a book group (you should join) again I think this would really be your kinda thing, it wasn’t an epic but certainly a good holiday read. https://ihugmybooks.wordpress.com/2011/06/27/purple-hibiscus-a-book-group-reaction/
Did you design the post this well with the default comment tools? Your page is incredible.

Hello, Just checking in as I had not seen any emails and reviews for a while. Hope all is ok, even when times are as intense as they are right now. Got a couple of books tucked away to escape with if the stress gets too much! Wishing you a Merry Solstice and a happy new calendar year with lots of hugable books!
Hi Catpaw, thank you so much for getting in touch and for the lovely message. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too. Unfortunately I’ve really neglected the blog recently, I’ve started a diploma on top of my job and I don’t seem to have the time to read any more. I really miss my blog though, I mss hearing your thoughts and sharing more so my new years resolution: start spending more time on my blog again. Thanks for still checking in and hopefully you’ll enjoy some up and coming reviews I have planned. x
